Gae Aulenti was an Italian interior designer and architectural theorist. She created the iconic Pipistrello lamp in 1965. She acquired international renown in the 1980's. From 1980 to 1986 she worked on the Gare d'Orsay Museum as Rehabilitation and Transformation Project Manager. In 1987, she was awarded the Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur medal.
